The Black Water Fall

5.11a, Sport, 60 ft (18 m),  Avg: 2.9 from 116 votes
FA: Dan Snyder
Utah > Central Utah > Maple Canyon > Right Fork > Cragganmore

Description

Crux is about midway as the holds thin out a bit and you have to commit. Sustained with ok feet and slopey hands. Looks slabby but actually a bit overhung in the middle then vert at the top. Balancey throughout. Fun with a nice view.

Location

Hike up the right side of Craggamore. It's the route on the left. In the black streak.

Protection

9 bolts to a two bolt chain anchor.

[Hide Comment] I can't believe this route doesn't have 4 stars on MP. Utterly classic line, up some of the best stone I've ever climbed in Maple. A must-do. May 30, 2016

[Hide Comment] Awesome climb, one of my favorite. The point where the stain is darkest is also the crux of the climb. Lots of fun. Jun 12, 2023
[Hide Comment] Modestly demanding, thin, elegant climb -- looks slabby, but it's not. We had trouble spotting the station from the ground, and were confused because the chains didn't seem to be in the most obvious place (they were); the confusion arose from a couple of bolts out left and above the station. Not sure where they lead, but they aren't part of the 11a. Sep 30, 2023
