Description

Easily one of the best routes of its grade in the area, if not anywhere. The climbing is varied on perfect burnished, golden rock. A low angle but difficult start in a dihedral leads to steep, sequential and powerful cruxes in the middle and at the end. The final reward on the upper hanging slab is interesting, enjoyable edging.

Location

Starts to the right and up the talus a bit in an obvious, eponymous cinnamon-colored groove. While another route (Shoe Phone) continues straight above, Cinnamon Groove breaks right after the first 3 bolts to a steep wall leading ultimately to the low-angled ramp. 70m rope required for easy descent.

Protection

Bolts, perhaps 14. Anchors at the top. A longer sling where the route leaves Shoe Phone may be desirable to mediate rope drag.
