Bandito is the leftmost bolted route at Mallette Park and is the easiest at 5.7. It is not as clean or direct as Moonshine, but is still enjoyable and a good beginner sport lead route for the grade. Scramble up the blocky start and continue up the indentation just left of the smooth face containing Bounty Hunter. Good balance and body positioning help higher up, as the angle of the rock tends to force a slight swing towards the face.

Need to be pretty tall to reach that ledge halfway up or so. Felt harder than a 5.7.
Some routes at roadside distraction rated harder seemed easier. Oct 25, 2016

Solid 5.7 on about the first half. The reach mentioned in the previous comment can be reached by a shorter person with some skilled footwork. Once past that point the route becomes significantly more vertical, we thought it was more of a 5.8 at this point. Overall, a fun climb! We lead it then set up top rope for our friends that had never climbed outdoors before. The rocks will probably be wet in the morning as the area receives a good bit of dew, but it is still climbable when wet, and the sun peaks around the corner in the mid-morning. There are chains at the top for anchoring. Be mindful, the approach to this route is very very chossy. Remember to call "rock" when you push loose rock down, it is very easy to get hit with large boulders and ruin your climbing day. Happy climbing! Aug 5, 2017
