Climb to a large, right-facing corner that is about 15-20 feet right of the roof on Muriel's Nose. Climb the corner, exit left, then go up past several 5.10 cruxes to low angle rock. Finish up the corner (easy) or the face on the left (5.8).

Close to the end of the Nears you will see a large block leaning against the cliff; on the right side, you will find the route Outsiders. Go left around the block and up the hill about 60 feet. Look for the large fin of rock above - Muriel's Nose - and far below that, a roof with a thin crack. That roof is the start of Muriel's Nose.

Standard 'Gunks rack.

I attempted this climb two weeks ago but the corner was dripping wet and covered in clumps of dirt and moss. I ventured up, hoping that the real climbing went to the left or the right of the mess, but it appeared that you had to go right through the wetness to do the climb, so I backed off. Was I wrong? Even if it dries out there is a lot of dirt/vegetation in amongst the climbing at the present time. May 2, 2018

It didn't take long for many of these semi-obscure routes in the middle/end of the Nears to become overgrown and unappealing; I saw it happen in the space of 4-5 years. Spinal Exam was clean and pretty nice when I did it, but I'm sure it's not so now. May 2, 2018
Well maybe I'll have to go back through that corner with a brush. May 4, 2018
