This cool climb goes over a rather large roof, with a few of the aid placements upside down underneath the big roof, which makes for some exciting, fun, and challenging.

A.S.S. is located to the right of Shock the Poodle on Poodle Rock at the bottom of the gully down the Gold Dust Gulch wash area.

Bring aid gear (we used a slider nut)....maybe a pin or three. Mostly smaller stuff. This aid climb ends on a ledge with rap anchors, so you can get off this climb easily and quickly.

I really enjoyed this route! The roof is very physical in the beginning, then eases up a little bit towards then end when you can start pushing with your feet against features sticking out of roof. Great abs workout for the leader and the follower.

  • doubles of Metolius 00 to Camalot C4 .5
  • two Knife Blades
  • one set of brass offsets
  • a few hand sized pieces for after the roof, singles

I could see it go clean, but that would be a long streak to run on marginal gear. The bolted anchors at the top didn't have rap rings so we traversed to the route on the right and rapped from there. Mar 10, 2018
