Description

This is a classic in every way. Powerful in your face initial boulder problem, followed immediately by fun, pumpy, and thoughtful climbing up a right-facing flake. Milk the rests as this baby doesn't let up until you are standing on the ledge next to the chains. Awesome!

Location

This line is the first bolted line to the right of the crack, Moose Knuckles.

Protection

10 bolts to sport chains. This one is long, must have at least 60m of rope!

Standing at the base of the super classic O.D.K. The route ascends the chalked up vertical seam to the left of my head in the photo. (Pinklebear and Dream of Poudre can also be seen.)

[Hide Comment] Great climb. Basically a good boulder problem to a jug, clip a bolt, and repeat. Since the route overhangs, a complete rest at the jugs is not possible. Furthermore, fun climbing without a single bad section until the anchor.

Edit: Found a no hands "rest" about half way up. Allows one to de-pump, but may take too much core strength to call it a rest. Jun 19, 2010

[Hide Comment] This route is extremely rad! Cool boulder problem start to pumpy slightly overhanging climbing for 85 feet. It's really good.... Jun 15, 2014

[Hide Comment] Stiff for Front Range 5.12a but def not 5.12b. A very good climb with a couple tough moves and a nice mix of face/crack technique. May 13, 2017
[Hide Comment] Great moves, several of which are made easier if you know know how to crack climb / jam. May 30, 2018

[Hide Comment] Fabulous climb! Best of the grade on the front range, and a stiff 12a compared to many of the others I have sent in CO. Jul 7, 2019

[Hide Comment] Good route but felt closer to 5.1 in my honest opinion. Jul 20, 2020
[Hide Comment] If you climb in the red, it’s pretty much a cake walk. Agreed 5.1. Jul 20, 2020

[Hide Comment] This climb is on you from the start. A short but stout boulder problem down low, I recommend stickclipping the 3rd bolt from the ledges below the 1st bolt. This will save you some broken ankles if you fall going from bolt 2 to 3, with a somewhat height-dependent crux. The start is getting super glossed from so much traffic, so getting your feet to stick is the hardest part. Once you're past bolt 3, you'd think you're in the free, but think again, because this climb does not let up. You'll think, how can I be so pumped while climbing on such large holds? Test you're hand jamming technique higher up on the route. Do not pass up getting on this route. Dec 6, 2020

[Hide Comment] In response about the name, if I remember properly, and correct me if I am wrong, acronym for: Old Derek and Ken? As in the two man FA party...and props to those two for this stellar route and all of their development! Sep 6, 2021
