Description

Dingmans Falls is PA highest waterfall and is an even more impressive sight frozen. This is located in the mists of the Delaware Water Gap and is near Silver Threadfalls. This climb needs some extened cold to come because of the huge amount of water flow. Normally you will want to climb on either the right or left sides, the middle isn't always very solid. You can walk up to the top via the board walk and drop a top-rope, this also serves as a convent walk off. The crux of the climb is going to be the final top part of the climb.

Location

From Dingmans Ferry ( Intersection of PA-739 and US-209) go south on US-209 for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto Johnny Bee Mountain Road. From here the road forks, go left at the fork and travel another 0.5 miles from to the visitor center. This is considered to be the access road. This road maybe closed from time to time in the winter. If it is you just have to park at the gate and walk up the access road 0.5 miles to the visitor center.

From the visitor center head right and you will see a board walk path leading into the forest. Silverthread Falls will be the first water fall you come to. Keep on going until you reach Dingmans falls. The board walk branches off to the left which will take up an ungodly amount of steps to the top of the waterfall where you can drop a top-rope. To get to the bottom of the climb, go over the railing and walk across the frozen creek to the start of the climb. Make sure the ice is thick enough, once standing at the bottom of the climb you will be standing over a pool of water.

To see if the access road is open you can call 570-588-2435. They will be able to tell you if it is open and if people have been climbing there.
