WI3-4+ waterfall in Tonti Canyon

TR and Screws

3x 50' Slings for trees and cordelette to equalize.
" Tonti' is a canyon. The two ice formations there that are both open yet to climbing are known as the Snake, and the Mongoose. Snake is the often poorly formed, taller one to the left as you walk into canyon. It comes out of an under highway drainage. The 'Mongoose' is bigger, wider and is well supplied with water from a creek above, not just a run off gully of snow melt mixed with highway slush as we get on the Snake. Dec 9, 2016
This climb was in great; it was long and steep, unlike some of the pictures from prior years that I've seen. It was pretty much dead-vertical for 80 feet or so, and didn't have much of a walk-up at the bottom. It took all 8 of my screws to lead it, and I was definitely running it out between a few of the screws. We climbed the left, which was smoother and easier to put screws in. The right was pretty wet and chandelier-like. We then set up a toprope anchor off of the big tree at the top. Mar 18, 2014
Great climb with a great belay on a big tree at the top. On 2/27/10 the top left was just thin shell of ice but the right was very nice. Feb 28, 2010
