Description

Totally Awesome unique climb!

This climb offers a variety of movement and some really unique moves. Start in a pocket, work up and stick a blocky ledge. There are a couple of decent rests at positive rails, but is sustained through the last few bolts. FA November 2009

Location

This route is located on the left side of the monolith when viewed from the road. Hike up the short slope, this route begins about 15 feet right of the arete at the entrance to the corridor.

Protection

6 bolts to two bolt anchor

Really great line! Fun, consistently hard movement, and good rock.

I thought it was stout--felt like solid 12a. Harder than Docile Dragon around the corner (which is also fantastic climbing). Jun 25, 2017

Kyle and I stopped by Mentmore April 3 and saw some new anchors with chains on two of the aretes on the monolith. Looks like awesome lines!
Get ahold of me if you are working these lines and we can talk and maybe coordinate development! Apr 3, 2010

Kyle Cherney and I have begun bolting out there. We put this climb up and have another line picked out that will go at low to mid 12 on the other side of the monolith. We are also hoping to bolt that arete at some point, there are several lines on the monolith that will go!
Really good rock for mentmore too!
A lot of potential for harder climbs Mar 23, 2010

New climbers setting routes in Gallup? Awesome.

Another potential climb is the actual arete on the left side of the corridor block. It's stout; I would suggest possible mid or low .12. I attempted it on top-rope years ago. Worked out all the moves but not top to bottom. If I would have stayed in Gallup I probably would have bolted it, but I left about 5 years ago.

But... It awaits someone else's ascent! Jan 27, 2010
