Description

The warm-up of choice for the visiting sport climber, The Doghouse Arete will get the flash pump out of the way-and quick! Steep and tricky, this rounded arete offers the most room for error.
Dynamic climbing leads to some tricky and powerful moves. A handful of jugs, a huge flat edge, and some killer crimps keep this steep route fun and exciting.

Figure out the difficult sequences and stay out of the doghouse!

Location

This is the third route in from the left. It follows a line of bolts up the strongest, most prominent arete.

Protection

Five bolts to an anchor.

[Hide Comment] Enjoyable jug pockets, towel racks, and cruxy sidepulls up aesthetic arete with no approach. Peachy. Jan 7, 2012

[Hide Comment] This is a totally fun climb. Very 3-Dimensional around the arete. Great place to belay. The bolts are great and it has a nice new set of chains at the top. Apr 9, 2012

[Hide Comment] Route has gotten more difficult as many holds have lost their edge. Overall quite chossy. Bolting for the area is poor. Feb 28, 2017

[Hide Comment] Steep crimping with some jugs here and there. Be mindful around the third bolt. Stiff 11b compared to other routes in the area. Apr 17, 2017

[Hide Comment] Bolting seemed fine to me. Looks like the third bolt was chopped and replaced. Seemed appropriate for the grade. I enjoyed this climb alot, quite pumpy. Nov 3, 2017

[Hide Comment] I got on this route on Saturday (11/13/2021) and ended up hand tightening 3-4 of the bolts. Just a heads up. Nov 16, 2021
