Probably the best route in the area. Head up the slab to the roof, move right into a corner at the base of the basalt flake. Climb past the flake and up the arete to the anchors.

On a slab uphill and 100 ft left Baby Steps.

Some moves are more technical and holds smaller than what I would consider 5.7, the rating the book suggests. Beginner climbers may have problems with this, but still a fun climb for the area. Also, the anchor does not have chains so you cannot rap back down after climbing the upper faces of Playground... bummer! Aug 8, 2013

Contrary to the other comment, this route is an easy 5.7 and has giant rap bolts on top, which is a short jaunt from the upper tier of climbs. I recommend belaying your second up and walking off though, as the rope drag for cleaning or even pulling after rapping is severe, that is, not worth the short climb. Sep 1, 2014

Easy 7 is around to the right. Hard 7 is straight up, avoiding the roof.

Red basalt plate is to the right, really cool to check out!

The roof is very attractive, but a nest of red hornets has set in as of the date of this post. Do not seek the treasure. Sep 22, 2016
