Shino

5.9-, Sport, 35 ft (11 m),  Avg: 2.2 from 75 votes
FA: Kevin Parson
Utah > Wasatch Range > Northern Wasatch > Ogden > 9th Street

Description

Fun climb and a good first time lead. After the 2nd bolt you can go straight up for a 5.9 or veer to the right for a 5.8 experience. Late afternoon during the summer finds the climb in shade - still warm, but not too hot (although the rock retains a lot of heat, so don't forget your chalk!)

Location

The third farthest left route (left of Cub Scout Corner). Easy to find as it is the third bolted route on 9th street on the left as you look at the wall.

Protection

3 bolts plus Chains

[Hide Comment] The grade on this route is accurate, and a lead fall would probably not be too devistating, but due to the run out after the 3rd bolt, I wouldn't reccomend this to a new leader. Oct 3, 2010

[Hide Comment] This route is no longer the furthest left route on the wall, there are two newer sport routes the left. Aug 7, 2018

[Hide Comment] Pretty sure this the route that just had a big ole slab fall off of it bringing a bolt down with it. Not sure what it does to the grade though Sep 10, 2020
[Hide Comment] The rock fall was on "Inordinate Clamor." "Shino" is as described above. Nov 3, 2020
