Hornets Nest

5.9, Sport, 45 ft (14 m),  Avg: 2.8 from 86 votes
FA: ??
Utah > Wasatch Range > Southern Wasatch > American Fork C… > Beer Can Alley
Access Issue: Located in a National Forest Fee Area Details

Description

A big roof with big jugs followed by more jug hauling to the chains. If you think it's harder than 5.9 you aren't finding the right holds. Very good for the grade.

Location

Right-most bolted route on the wall. Look for the big roof about 15 feet from the ground.

Protection

5 bolts to chains.

Shouldn't this route be named after some kind of beer? Jul 7, 2009

[Hide Comment] At first the route didn't look very enticing but its the lowest grade on the wall so a friend and i climbed it as a warm up. i was surprised how fun it was. Jun 19, 2011

[Hide Comment] Not greasy or slippery at all, feels more like a 5.8, crux is first to second bolt I'd say. Aug 21, 2011

[Hide Comment] i felt that this was more like a 5.8 then a 5.9 but i have to say its one of the absolute funniest routes i have ever done. Nov 3, 2012
[Hide Comment] Good warm up route for the rest of wall. Fun move between the first and second bolts. Sep 2, 2013
