Rain Dance

V5-6, Boulder, 10 ft,  Avg: 2.8 from 10 votes
FA: unknown
Colorado > Colorado Springs > Ute Valley Park > S Side Area > Cube Boulder
Access Issue: Reopened after flood damage! Details

Sit start on the arete just left of the sit for Wedgie. Go straight up, eventually gaining one of the Wedgie's crimps with your right hand. From here, make a big throw to the sloping top of the boulder.

Toping out is probably the crux.

I've heard this called V6, felt somewhat easier than that, but I could see it.

Essentially this is on the same face as Wedgie, and just to the left of that problem. See photo.

A spotter to keep you off the boulder behind you if you blow the tricky top out.

[Hide Comment] You call it a V4 in your post, then you rate it a V5? Which is it? Jan 11, 2010

[Hide Comment] This feels harder than Center Route, and I'm 6' tall and love big moves. I'm not sure this would be a V6 outside of Ute, but if we're going to keep grades consistent in the area I'll vote for V6. Jan 12, 2010
[Hide Comment] This is definitely harder than Floater, which I can send 100% of the time. Rain Dance is 50 50 for me...the big move isn't that hard to stick, but the topout is definitely sketchy. I was pointing my previous question at loc, who posted a pic of himself at the BOTTOM of the problem and called it a V4, whereas his rating to the side says V5.

My opinion is that if Floater is V5, this is V6. If Rain Dance is V5, then Floater is V4. I can deal with either, but this is definitely a grade harder then Floater. Jan 12, 2010
