The Minnesota State Parks Service requests that climbers do not climb inside of potholes, which would include this route. This climb additionally has the potential of you slipping into an unpleasent algae-laden pool. This climb is included for historical purposes. Traverse out a good jug rail without feet, and make a hard reach up into the crack. Top out.

In the Boneyards, immediately at right, in the pothole.

Water. Don't fall. Pads if it's winter.

By all means we must respect "the rules", but I have to say this has been one of my favorite problems for years now. I used to carry a pruner in by pack just so I could trim the little tree that kept growing out of the crack. I did see a climber from Tennessee drop into the Soup once. To my disappointment he only went in up to his knees. Turns out it's not all that deep after all. If you climb it in winter, the water is frozen and you can work the problem without fear of getting wet. But don't climb it. Jan 9, 2015
