Description

A short climb that can be a bit thought-provoking for the beginner leader up to the 2nd bolt. The 2nd bolt is a bit high and the climb can be scary for a beginning leader between the 1st and 2nd bolts. Above the 2nd bolt, the climbing eases to slab past 2 more bolts.

Location

Located in the far west corner of the Upper Pond West. Start the face climb on a small ledge just to the right of a big corner.

Protection

4 bolts to a 2 bolt anchor.

I'm not sure this route is really 5.5. At least up to the second bolt this route is more like the other 5.7s in the Pond area. It is more difficult than Fat Boy (5.6) at any rate. May 4, 2015
I'd agree with the previous comment. This feels quite a bit harder than 5.5, especially compared to Princess Jordini and Her Magic Flute right around the corner. I'd say its closer to 5.7 or maybe even a soft 5.8. Great short climb though, really fun moves with some fun pockets.

If setting up toprope, I would definitely recommend using slings or multiple draws to minimize drag, the chains are kind of far back. Also the anchors are just hangers with no chains or rings, so you'll want to abseil down when cleaning.

Overall a great short, easy route for introducing people to climbing. Dec 21, 2015
