The Slapper

V5-6, Boulder, 15 ft (5 m),  Avg: 2.9 from 40 votes
FA: ???
Colorado > Morrison/Evergr… > Morrison Boulders > Dark Side > Squirming Coil Area

Start just to the right of 'Squirming Coil' on a low, left sidepull and a sloping, right hold on the arete. Moves left up to a crimpy sidepull, then a LONG reach slaps up right to a sloper. Struggle with the bad feet and throw for the nose at the lip and mantle up.

This is just to the right of 'Squirming Coil.'

Pads and an attentive spotter, the landing is bad, if you fall you're rolling right down the trail.

[Hide Comment] Starting far right on the other side of the arĂȘte adds to the pump and I think possibly another V6 move or two. Apr 18, 2014

[Hide Comment] Huge thanks to the Front Range Climbing Stewards for their beautiful trail work at the Dark Side. This problem now has a perfect flat landing! Feb 23, 2017

[Hide Comment] I did this wayyy different than the description. I started right hand super low on the arete, left hand in the lowest crack on the face (is this the sidepull mentioned in the description?). First bumped right hand up, then went left hand on the arete, and bumped right further up the arete. Then I moved my left hand super far out onto the high crimpy sidepull, and from I there went to the topout jugs. Does this even count, LOL? Still felt about V5 to pull on and make the big reach, but it may be softer.
