Split Grain

V0-, Boulder, 15 ft (5 m),  Avg: 1.5 from 2 votes
FA: unknown
California > Joshua Tree NP > Joshua Tree Bou… > Central Joshua… > Stonehenge & Fr… > Stonehenge Boul… > Hoi Polloi Boulder

Start about 8' right of Multi Grain (V0) on a jug and make a long reach/toss up and left to a large edge. Swing left, match and mantle and finish up easy slab to the topout.

* Not listed in the Joshua Tree bouldering guide, but it's an obvious problem to be done on the boulder and perhaps worth inclusion to a circuit of the area.

South face of the Hoi Polloi Boulder, just right of Multi Grain.

[Hide Comment] The latest guidebook says “Climb the bumpy slab on the back of the boulder.” It has no picture, either.

If you go right, it’s a funky, high-stepped move to a knob and a weirdo mantel onto the bumpy slab and up. Feels typical Jtree V0. I’d think could just chalk right and left up into variations of the same problem. Nov 19, 2018
