The Bulge

5.7+, TR, 25 ft (8 m),  Avg: 2.3 from 11 votes
FA: unknown
Massachusetts > Eastern, MA > Den Rock Park > Desperado

Description

The Bulge climbs delicately over a small rounded portion of the Desperado face using a quartz dike. Full of balancy moves and strange holds, the route may seem a bit stiff if you are unused to Den Rock's confusing, crappy rock. For full value do not use the left arete. Start by making a few reachy moves on crimps to gain the dike. Then, pinching crystals and sidepulling awkward crimps, step up to gain the steeper but easier upper section.

Location

This ascends the left side of Desperado face, the first prominent feature you see as you enter Den Rock.

Protection

Glue-in anchor at top.
