Access Issue: June 1, 2018 - All Los Alamos/White Rock climbing areas closed due to Stage III Fire Restrictions Details

Description [Suggest Change]

Rock Off climbs the arete left of Rock On! and joins it for the mantle. Both the detached rock that serves as the start foot for Rock On! and the detached face left of the Rock Rock are off.

Start on poor holds on the arete and make a balancy move the better features that are located above the top of the left face. From here, grab some small holds left of the arete and move up to join the Rock On! mantle.

Starting on holds above the top of the left-hand face is probably V2-, but still fun. The other rocks are still off.

Both versions of Rock Off have good movement (3 stars) but the fact that the rock left of the arete is off detracts from the overall quality.

Location [Suggest Change]

Rock Off is on the left arete of the 'Rock Rock', which is located in the Main Area on the right side of the wash, just East of the Goblin' Boulder. See the
Rock Rock

Rock Off starts on the arete, but the start hands for Rock On! are on, whereas detached rocks are off.

Protection [Suggest Change]

A pad would be good to protect ankles for the start move (bad feet), and a spotter might be nice for the top mantle... the rock is chossy.

I'm not a huge fan of these two problems, and perhaps I am doing something wrong because both Rock On and Rock Off seem equivalently difficult. V1 seems plenty generous the way I do them, which is legitimate by the route description's standards. May 21, 2009
