Description

Start right of the Killer start. Virga ascendes a line of pockets starting out of an overlap pretty far off the ground (it requires an A0 start). Sequential reaches to good pockets.

Matt's argument was that it had been "closed" for years, if memory serves. I find the "stole the first redpoint" claim somewhat questionable given that consideration. There's got to be some unwritten statute of limitations on a red tag; otherwise the actual theft is from the climbing community as a whole.

Also, the most recent guidebook of Sinks lists Matt as having the FA on this route, as well as Smoke Shapes. Jul 28, 2014

The American climbing community has such retarded ideals on the "FA" of a sport route. Credit should be given to the person who had the vision and put the time, effort and coin into establishing the route, period. Red tagging for years as Piana and Skinner did, truly robs the rest of us from climbing experiences and as such should be limited. It is overly egotistical and implies ownership of a thing that cannot be owned regardless of the commitment invested. However, the first person to climb a route is significant as well and should also be noted in guidebooks or when relating historical info. It is ridiculous to completely erase the name of the person who created the route when someone else climbs it first.

Having stated this, I changed the credit for this route to show that there were two parties involved in opening this route. Mar 4, 2015
