Description

Tough move pulling off the 3 finger right hand crimp, sometimes ths feels easy other times impossible. I've heard it called V5 to V8. Very tough after doing the traverse.

Location

The steep blunt arete at the right end of the long horizontal break.

Protection

Pads and spotters, this is the part of Mario Andretti that wrecked my calf and knee when I fell off it. I hear the landing has been fixed up a bit since, but beware that falls land pretty far back from the problem on a large rounded rock embedded in the ground and to the left of it.

The landing has been improved and is pretty flat now. I imagine that the first move is much easier for shorter people. Starting with my right foot about 6 inches below my hands made the first move feel pretty easy. The crux was like Lee mentions latching the left hand edge at the finish, off the extremely sharp right hand crimp. Dec 7, 2009
