DescriptionThe ice ~300 feet left of Alpha Male in the alcove closer to the road at the same elevation.
There are 2 lines here that seem to get confused. The left begins with a WI3- step then bushwacks upward on a low angle ice ramp to snow and trees. The right variation has a similar lower step but finishes up the short but fun steep section, which, when formed, is visible from the road. This variously forms as a column, 2 columns, or a sheet, is always steep and fun.
LocationYou can see this climb from US160 just below the higher of 2 runaway truck ramps. Park in the large pullout on the OPPOSITE side of the road from the truck ramp and snowshoe out to overlook the drainage below. Locate the cliffband across the drainage and plot out a route down to the bottom then back up to the shelf above the cliffs as far upstream as it makes sense. Follow this shelf around to the top of the climbs.
Be aware of the possibility of avy danger on the descent to the creek and ascent to the shelf on the far side. One good indicator is that if the pullout is not plowed out it is not a good idea to go here.
