Access Issue: Mt. St. Helena Crags - Fire Damage from Fall 2017 Details

Description

Rampage!!!!

This is sport climbing. Slightly overhanging wall, big holds, big moves! Head up out of the tree, pull a bulge, pinch some tufas, dream of Spain, head left and up to the shuts. A crag highlight for sure!

Bolted on the tight side of necessity to avoid a fall into the tree. A great lead for those looking to break into the grade.

Location

Start out of the bay tree at the base. Right of Silverado Squatters and left of Beast of Burden.

Protection

7 bolts and an anchor on top.

First Ascent was by Jeff Follett, in 1995. May 17, 2008
Beware of the tree. Took a fall on July 12, just before 3rd bolt and swung against it on the way down. One of the branches had recently been pruned, leaving behind a sharp edge. The result was 27 undesired stitches on my thigh and three weeks of no climbing. Jun 13, 2011

This is a great route! Fun moves on cool, big holds. This is the type of climb that I'll never get sick of, and look forward to doing many more times. Sep 8, 2013

Fun line! Go for the onsight! For 10c (is that the rating given?) all the moves are totally there, just fight off the pump near the top. The rock felt more secure then silverado to the left. May 26, 2015

Super pumpy and sustained. It's a jug haul with plenty of places to shake out, but no solid rests to fully recover.

Awesome route, definitely check it out if you go to the bear Oct 9, 2017

MUCH LOOSE ROCK WAS CLEANED AFTER THE FIRE. ALL BOLTS AND THE ANCHOR WERE REPLACED IN FEBRUARY 2018. IT SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO, BUT BE CAREFUL! Mar 8, 2018
