Warning Access Issue: Seasonal Closures 2024 - Bitty Buttress, Blob (Eagle Rock & Security Risk now open!) DetailsDrop down

Description

Climb the splitter crack in the center of The Topknot. Bouldery moves off the ground lead to great finger locks and nice jugs to rest and place gear.

This has clean rock, bomber finger locks, and good gear.

Location

This route is located on The Topknot, the summit block of the Fourth Elephant Buttress.

To descend, scramble down easy rock on the north side into the notch between the third and fourth buttresses, or scramble down the southwest side back to the top of the Fourth Elephant Buttress.

Protection

Standard rack, mostly finger-sized cams and stoppers. Tree on summit for toprope anchor.

[Hide Comment] Pretty good route. This looks like the hardest line, but is cruiser with good gear. Apr 18, 2008

[Hide Comment] One of 4 lines there in all. No better or worse than the others. If you were to stack them all end-to-end, then you'd have a pitch of climbing. May 8, 2008

[Hide Comment] Once you're 5 feet off the ground, the route is a total jug haul with great hand holds and foot holds the whole way. Definitely the easiest on the Topknot with a no-hand rest after nearly every move. Sep 19, 2022
[Hide Comment] It is pretty easy to make a toprope with a horn on top and a back piece of gear. Super quick and pretty fun. Oct 10, 2023
