Bust 'er was the first set of bolts drilled at Thunder. Climb face moves up to a " pork chop" shape plate, pull hard here to get to the crack above. (crux) Mid -to- hard 5.11. Around corner left of Brown Wall.

Bolts up to crack then gear to top. There are chain anchors at the top.

Looks like a pretty cool climb from the ground. Too bad some immature juvenile frat boy named it, because now my wife will never belay me on it. Oct 18, 2008

Seriously? It's just a piece of rock dude, and a mighty fine one too. If you want to climb it, I'd suggest finding another belayer and giving it a go. Or, you & Gretel could just call it "the route with the unspeakable name" and she could just look the other way while she belay's you.
Dis the name or the quality of the route all you want, after you climb it. No need to talk shit about someone who's put so much time, money & effort into this area. Dec 17, 2008

Check out this link if you really want to be offended. There are definitely some routes for Gretel to avoid.

Some thoughts to keep in mind for route-naming from GK Chesterton:

"Men are men; but Man is a woman."

"The chief difference between the average man and the average woman is that the woman is a ruler and the man is not."

"When you call a thing female, you have yielded to it utterly." Dec 19, 2008

Buster has its own set of anchors now, no more traversing at the top needed. Sep 21, 2012

I'd like to take all the credit, Dave, but Kevin did the grunt work! Sep 22, 2012

The crux was definitely entering into crack system. Height was the biggest issue for me trying a delicate reach to the good crimp just below the crack. Other than that, not too shabby at all, a fine route. Feb 17, 2014

I got on it today, and the crux felt very hard and height-dependent. If you're a shorty, then expect the crux to be somewhat dynamic.

The quality of rock is really good on this route, but I was not a fan of the crux. I've done a lot of harder climbs in Thunder, and this felt pretty stiff for the grade. Aug 22, 2015

I really thought this route was fantastic. I felt good about getting the onsight, because the crux move into the crack would have been easy to screw up. I had to really think about it before making the move.
Unfortunately my wife dislocated her shoulder on the lower section pulling on the crimp near the first bolt. I lowered her to the ground and helped her get it back in socket, not the first time it's happened, so we knew what to do. So trying to Bust'er Hymen actually Busted her Shoulder.

Didn't care for the route that much. Not very sustained. There are definitely better (and better protected) 11s at Thunder Ridge in my opinion. Oct 29, 2018
