The Groove

5.8, Trad, TR, 30 ft (9 m),  Avg: 2.2 from 46 votes
FA: unknown
Georgia > Metro-Atlanta Area > Allenbrook

Description

Starts under a little block.. Get around this and into the slot/squeeze. Follow this feature to the top. Good warm up for the overhanging routes.

Location

Around the right side of the cliff as it slopes up.

Protection

TR, there is a thin tree that you will need to pad. It is on the top or upper tier so you will need a long piece of webbing to get it right. Might want to back it up.

[Hide Comment] EDIT: Note the two previously cut bolts at the top are now smashed. A toprope anchor can be built off the small tree at the top, possibly backed up with the larger trees very far back. Dec 11, 2015

[Hide Comment] No bolts, protected from the bigger 2 further trees with static line rather than the smaller tree directly above the route.

Better climb than I remember now that I'm a better climber. Some fun moves on it. Crack glove may make one move easier but not super necessary. Mar 29, 2025
