Please be aware of the annual raptor seasonal closures!
Raptor Closures Effective February 1-July 31
Visit: jeffco.us/open-space/news/2…
Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves

Description
Scramble up onto an angled ledge. If you're brave (or stupid), don't pre-clip the first bolt. Or, don't even toprope in to set your draws. I contemplated giving this a V5 grade but decided that would be deceiving and possibly dangerous. Nonetheless, it's basically a bolted, boulder problem. Crimpy, with a power move or two, this fun little climb will keep you on your toes. Hold it together long enough to clip the second draw and prepare to crank a creepy mantle over the arete and onto the sloping face. Don't get too deluded over your success upon sending; it's only 25 feet of actual climbing.
Location
This is the furthest bolted line to the left, even further than Bonehead, albeit 10 feet up and around the corner from it. Climbs the slightly overhanging face to the right of Black Haul.
Protection
Update 2020: there are now 4 bolts, and the first isn't so scary now, being that it's the 2nd. This used to share anchors with Bonehead but now has its own. Thanks for the work on this, Kevin!
