Mountain Project is working to address the issue of route names that are discriminatory in nature, including racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of bigotry. At this point, we are cataloging route names that are potentially discriminatory. We have not made a decision about this route yet while we continue to plan how to evaluate each name and what actions we should take.
We are happy to work with First Ascensionists who wish to change the name at any time.
This is a long and complicated process that will evolve over time. Our next step is to work with the community to develop a method for identifying and addressing discriminatory names.
Routes and areas are generally named by the FA, and then shared on Mountain Project, other websites, and guidebooks. They can be shared by anyone - sometimes the FA, but usually just someone who has the local knowledge. We respect the tradition of using a FA’s route name, but this is not unlimited, and we need to balance that tradition with respect for all climbers.

Please refrain from blocking the road, yield to oncoming mining vehicle traffic, and be careful of rockfall and icefall. Please share the road to minimize future access issues with the road's multiple user groups.
