EIS

5.10b/c, Sport, 40 ft (12 m),  Avg: 1.9 from 53 votes
FA: unknown
Utah > Central Utah > Maple Canyon > Maple Canyon Rd > Maple Corridor > W Wall

Description

Fun crux near the end of the route consisting of laybacks or a nice finger lock if one feels brave enough to attempt it. Bottom section is easy and route steepens as one climbs higher. Definately worth doing if your in the area.

Location

Shares the first bolt with Raindrops On Lichen but instead of going right for raindrops on lichen go left and enjoy EIS (5.10b)This is the first route on climbers left as one enters the maple corridor.

Protection

Quickdraws. Chain anchors at the top of the climb.

[Hide Comment] Not sure if a hold broke off or something, but clipping the 4th?/5th? bolt is extremely difficult. At least .10c/d. Jun 4, 2013
[Hide Comment] I'm guessing something broke. In fact, that's why I'm looking at this route right now. My fiance and her friend both failed to redpoint it after two tries each - and both have flashed 5.11. Seems like solid 5.11 from watching them. I did it in 2007 and don't remember anything odd about the grade. Jun 18, 2015

[Hide Comment] I think the description for the route is incorrect. Raindrops on Lichen doesn't have routes that it shares bolts with, you could in theory connect another route but it would be a huge runout with the two other routes on the left. However, there are actually two routes to the left of Raindrops now. I don't know which one is which.

It starts as a bolted route on the far left. Go up to the second bolt (which is really far above the first with ground fall potential) Then, it splits off left or right(two different chain anchors). I think if you go right then its EIS, because if you go left the route is significantly much harder than 10b. I'd venture to say 10+ or as others have said possibly an 11a. Jun 29, 2021
