Description

This was the first route put up on the boulder. Interesting moves lead to a balancy crux at mid-height. This one climbs a lot like a Joshua Tree route, in that there are odd moves, painful crimps, a critical smear and some grains.

Location

This is the left hand route on the east face.

Protection

7 bolts. Lower off anchors at the top of the route.

No idea why I called it Cleopatras Flotilla of Love. Weird fun fact about this route. I put the bolts in solo style as I do.... at the time there were other projects going on up at this crag and others in the area. I come back at some point and do the route leading it on a GriGri. In the mean time Doug McDonald, another lone wolf with a grigri is doing routes solo in the area. Months later we compare notes and find we both did this route, solo, but we don't know who was first. He knew I had put in the bolts and assumed I did the route at the same time as we were kinda overlapping each other projects. It's a modern mystery.... Aug 22, 2007
