Groove Factor

5.10a, Sport, 70 ft (21 m),  Avg: 2.2 from 27 votes
FA: Richard Jensen, 1981 (?)
California > Inland Empire > Riverside Area > Riverside Quarry > (a) Slab City > Slab City (Right)

Description

Start at an obvious block; easy climbing up the block and ledges gains the first bolt, about 15' up. Interesting climbing up the shallow dihedral brings one to the crux passing the fourth bolt. Above, climb the arete past three more bolts to a bolted anchor with rap rings. Although mostly easy climbing with only a move or two at grade, this is a fun line on nice edges that will keep you guessing.

Location

Groove Factor follows the faint dihedral/arete between *White Heat and Pleasure Dome.

Protection

8 bolts, 2 bolt anchor w/rings

[Hide Comment] Scramble up easy rock to a high first bolt, make a committing move past it, then enter the groove and finish with a series of easy mantles higher up on this fun climb.

The current anchor is less than ideal and needs to be upgraded. Aug 21, 2007

[Hide Comment] The Louis Anderson guide book we were using rated this at 5.9, but .10a is reasonable. May 22, 2012
