What's that name about, anyhow?

What you never want to hear from your girlfriend?

'I'm Late' is a worthwhile route, especially if you're at the T-Wall looking to climb 5.7. It begins a hand crack in a small, left-facing corner about 10 feet right of 'Stepping Stone', and continues up on easier ground after a little rooflet. This route tends to hold a bit of dust after a rain, but not enough to scare you off.

Protection and Anchors

Rings at the top. Normal stuff.

There are now bolts and rap rings at the top of this climb. May 3, 2008

Very nice route! Great protection lowers the stress level on the "intense-for-5.7" section in the middle. Feb 20, 2010
Well, after 31 years I can still recall putting this route up with Ron and how it got named. After I got down from leading it, Rob Robinson came by and said that it was a new route and what did I want to name it? I looked at my watch and said “I’m late!”(for work). Rob said, "So that’s what I’ll put down" – sorry no girlfriend at the time. I do recall it being a short route and a good crux for a 5.7. Aug 16, 2016
This route shares bolted anchors with Family Planning. Really nice and gear wherever you want. Quite hard for 5.7. slight sandbag. Jan 26, 2017
