RAIN AND WET ROCK The sandstone in Red Rocks is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Details

Description

This is the wide, right-angling crack to the right of Shortcake. Although a crack, it climbs more like a face route, with plentiful face holds.

Protection

I brought some large cams and didn't use any of them. I would recommend a light rack of stoppers and cams to a #1 (red) BD. Rap from tree atop route.

Soloed this and found it a fairly casual ascent. No way I would have soloed shortcake even though the guidebook lists them at both 5.6. Feb 2, 2009
