Arizona > Northern Arizona > Winslow Area- H… > Jacks Canyon > Casino Cliffs

Description

Bolted crack to the left of the main Casino Cliffs area and around the corner from the cave area. The route is a classic for the area and often a line.

Right facing dihedral - bolted crack. Rumor has it a hold broke off around the second clip, I didn't notice any real difference in the route or the grade.

Location

Around the corner to the left of the grotto area by 4 routes.

Protection

6 bolts to jumbo sized welded shuts.

One of the original anchors is still above replacements. The second has a bolt shaft but no shut. This is a good example on why it is important to hang draws while top roping. Grit and friction wore out this and many other anchors in the area.

[Hide Comment] A quality route for the new 5.10 leader. Like most of the ratings at Jacks, it's a little soft. Nov 25, 2011

[Hide Comment] this route is really cool because of the 15 feet of jamming and liebacking down low. if you have easy access to real cracks i can see this route not being particularly special to you. May 6, 2013
[Hide Comment] Stumped. I think I was just brain dead. Coming back to redeem myself on this one Jun 6, 2019

[Hide Comment] The NAZCC (Northern Arizona Climbers Coalition) added Climb Tech mussy hooks to the anchors. In collaboration with the ASCA (American Safe Climbing Association) and the Access Fund, the NAZCC will continue further anchor improvements and re-bolting efforts throughout the region. If you'd like to support the cause, you can donate at nazcc.org Oct 8, 2021

[Hide Comment] The crux move is going from the 2nd to 3rd bolt, and after that the climbing goes at a much easier grade . Very enjoyable and fun crack climb Oct 10, 2021
