Good hand crack on a dihedral leads to off width as you climb higher. Crux comes as you change from hands or lie back to offwidth. I found this climb in an old book that called it 5.9. However, after climbing it felt much softer.

Continue below Out of Sight. You will see a short wide crack on a wide large boulder. The climb is on the north side of the boulder. You can see out of sight clearly from the top of the boulder. easy down climb from the south side of boulder

.75 to 4 Bolt at top need replacing set up anchor with two #2 Cams in flake on opposite side of rock. Belay from top

Via the 1987 Brueckner Guide phantom is much lower on the hill..looks like a fun climb nonetheless Feb 20, 2012
I lead this over a year ago. It was my first trad lead (totally recommended for the noobs), great rock quality and bomber gear(1-4 BD). I don't think I'm experienced enough to give a grade, but this is a lot easier than the other 5.9's on the mountain I've done, and I don't consider myself a liebacking master either. Anyways, super fun. There is also a fun 10a sport climb to the left of this route. Oct 3, 2013

There are two bomber bolts on top of this - easy TR setup. This is a great introductory climb for new climbers/leaders. May 31, 2014

Jammed it, fun that way, but rock is very textured so watch your ankles. Didn't have a #4 for the upper portion where it goes out of sight and still quite a ways, so it was a little run out. Easy downclimb on the backside. Sep 26, 2014
I think 5.9- is about right. I lead this saturday with a 5 and used it. I recommended a 6 (which we had) for subsequent leaders and they were able to place it. It gets a little off width-y at the top. A 6 is probably overkill but if you got it, why not. Oct 18, 2017
