39 Steps

5.5, Trad, 40 ft,  Avg: 2.2 from 25 votes
FA: Maria Cranor & Charles Cole, 1983
California > Joshua Tree NP > Wonderland of R… > Wonderland South > S Wonderland Ap… > Sergeant Rock

The route offers steep but positive climbing up the dike system with the added security of a wide crack/flare. Minimal protection is to be had, but the nature of the climb makes it feel secure. Gear belay and rap off bolts atop Rock Star/School Daze. Two stars out of five.

You'll find this short but enjoyable route on the south face about 30' right of Suffering Catfish. Look for a vertical dike system in the back of a chimney/flare.

[Hide Comment] The bolt anchors are down and to the left, they are useless if you want to setup a TR. Out right of the dike, about 15 feet, there is a spot where you can get a few pieces in, but you'll need at least a 30 foot cordellete. Jan 19, 2009
