5.4, Sport,  Avg: 1.6 from 77 votes
FA: Kate Lincoln 10/96
New Hampshire > Rumney > Apocalypse Walls
Warning Access Issue: Note: New route moratorium area DetailsDrop down

Description

This is a great first lead for some one just learning the mechanics of sport climbing with comfortable stances to clip from and an opportunity to learn how to run the rope through the anchor to retrieve your draws. The route follows a series of steps up the arete to a few face moves at the top.

Great beginner fun. May be wet sometimes.

Location

The low-angled arete to the right of Apocalypse Later (5.11c).

Protection

4 bolts to a two bolt anchor.

[Hide Comment] Even though it had been dry for days (and weeks) prior, it was still kinda yucky. Blocky. Not my favorite Rumney climb! Aug 22, 2010
[Hide Comment] I agree it is not the greatest climb, but pg 13? I could have sworn this climb is super protected. Sep 1, 2010

[Hide Comment] If only this was dry all the time, it would be a really good route. If it did stay dry it would deserve as much attention as A Week With Pete at the Parking Lot Wall but due to it's almost constant wetness it does not get the credit it deserves. Although even in very wet conditions it is enjoyable. May 3, 2011

[Hide Comment] I really think this is easier than "A Week with Pete", but I haven't climbed that in a while. Hence 5.2. Opinions, anyone? Aug 24, 2019
