WI4, Ice, 60 ft,
Avg: 2.3 from 3 votes
FA: Cameron Burns & Benny Bach
Colorado > CO Ice & Mixed > RMNP - Mixed/Ice > Glacier Gorge T… > Loch Vale & uphill
"Freezer Burn" is one of the longer climbs immediately to the right of "
". It looks like it would form up as a two-tiered pitch.
It is immediately right of
Stubbie ice screws. You can walk off to the left.

...or perhaps this is "Freezer Burn"? This ice is just 100 ft. to the right of the previous photo.
"Cold Storage" on the left and "Freezer Burn (?)" on the right: 28 Jan 07.

"Cold Storage" was in good shape on 28 Jan 07. However, the 2 lines to the right of it (one of them is "Freezer Burn", the other is... ???) were thin.

Camster (Rhymes with Hamster)
Another route that Benny Bach and I did the probable FA on in the mid-1990s. Cam Burns (email@example.com).

Cold Storage / Freezer Burn & The Crypt were all in good climbable conditions on 12/26/11.

These routes (Cold Storage as well) see very little traffic, and as a result it's unlikely there will be much of a bootpack to get you to the climb. Expect an approach
reaching Loch Vale to still possibly take 1.5 to 2 hours or more. Both routes are very similar and offer around 25 to 30 feet of dead vertical ice with lower angle ice above them. Those seeking solitude will find it here.
