Protect Access in Owens River Gorge! Details

Description

Right before the turn off for the China Wall, there is a huge slabby boulder sitting down off the righthand side of the trail. This is the infamous Iceberg. Rappel or hike down to the base. The climb starts with a tricky cross and reach to the lip. At this point you are faced with a most heinous mantle. If you manage to gain the slab, cruise up sinker pockets to the anchor.

I think everyone has looked at this route from above expecting it to be impossible; never knew it was this "easy". The slab isn't even the crux; the thin heady mantle is (never knew the slab didn't go to the ground either!) Feb 18, 2014
