Description

More than a mere warm-up for other routes on the wall, Gorgeous offers fun movement on slabby to overhanging pocketed rock. Gorgeous climbs the blunt arete that cleaves the wall of Mt. Gorgeous. From the left side of the slabby buttress, pull pockets to a dished recess at mid-height. Moves from right to left lead up under a steep bulge with an assortment of pockets. Pull through the bulge onto the final slab and an anchor with three hooks/shuts.

Protection

7 bolts, open shuts

[Hide Comment] Anyone know what the climb immediately left of this is? It is between this route and the arete. May 8, 2011

[Hide Comment] According to Louie Anderson's 2003 Santa Monica Guide, the route left of "Gorgeous" is "Cig-arête" (5.11b). "Cig-arête" begins left of the arête and moves right of the arête near the 4th bolt. Sep 24, 2011

[Hide Comment] Ben is absolutely correct. BETA ALERT: The crux definitely revolves around pulling over the bulge about 60% of the way up, and making a clip while the right hand hangs on an ok gaston crimp. Great route for those who are looking to enter into the 5.10 ratings! -- it was my first 5.10. Aug 17, 2014

[Hide Comment] This route felt even shorter than the arete to the left. 30 feet of easy climbing to the real 10a moves, a bulge merely 15 feet long. A nice warmup. Mar 14, 2017
[Hide Comment] The bolt that is half way up the over hang spins. The bolt and nut themselves seem to be solid, but the metal piece that a quickdraw goes through is loose and rotates. Oct 23, 2017
[Hide Comment] The 5th bolt hanger spins and the actual bolt itself is loose too. I tightened back down by hand but this will need to be addressed. This is the bolt before the crux, so probably the most important on the route. Apr 29, 2018
