Description

Back Door Man takes the west face of the North Pinnacle. Although this is a bolted route it is not a sport route! When Bob bolted it on lead, he broke an ankle and had to come back later to finish the route. Exciting! One of the best routes at Luffenholtz.

Location

The North Pinnacle is about 200 yards north of the stairs. It is the farthest north of the crags at Luffenholtz.

Protection

3 stainless bolts. These were replaced in the late 90's. Stainless anchor.

Excellent climb. On my lead, while pulling the scary top out my right hand on the arete unexpectedly broke off a giant chunk of rock. Thank goodness for the heel hook or I'd have one less good ankle! It's a fantastic climb, but make sure not to let your guard down. Jan 9, 2016
