Assembly Line

5.11a/b, TR, 60 ft (18 m),  Avg: 2.9 from 37 votes
FA: unknown
California > Northwest Calif… > Moonstone Beach > Karen Rock

Description

Although this climb is a result of short sighted behavior, it exists, and is one of the cleanest looking faces at Karen. Assembly Line ascends the south facing block in the center of Karen Rock. Climb one of two or three variations to reach the base of the block. Look for the drilled 2 finger pocket and decide to avoid it for 12a or pull on it for 11 a/b. A couple thin edges and a sloping top out get you up. If it weren't chipped it would have been 3 stars +.

Location

Center of Karen Rock.

Protection

Stainless bolt anchor, slings.

[Hide Comment] I'm pretty sure three of the pockets are drilled; the left hand three finger, and the ones before the lieback. Has anyone been able to actually pull the route without these? Perhaps skipping one is 12a, but skipping all of them would likely be impossible. Nov 21, 2018
