Description

GRTC climbs a bolted face near the center of Clamshell Cave. Unlike the other routes, it begins from the ground rather than the ledge system partway up. GRTC begins with vertical, pumpy moves off the ground before moving onto interesting slabby ground after the second clip. Worthwhile climbing last until the anchor.

Protection

5 or 6 bolts, 2 beefy bolts at the top to set up a TR as well as a separate 2 bolt anchor with a chain/rap ring to lower/rap off. Walking off to the left past the upper ledge climbs is possible as well.

[Hide Comment] Just climbed it today 5/26/2008 and the anchor was there. Very fun climb. The crux is about bolt 3-4 where it gets slabby and thin. May 26, 2008

[Hide Comment] Some fun, thoughtful slab climbing comes after some tough moves off the ground. Pulling off the ground the up to the first bolt is definitely a bit tricky, but there's a clear sequence. Starting in the chimney to the right probably makes this 10a, but makes for a fun time as well if you can stick clip the second bolt or risk a big ground fall. Definitely worth doing if nearby!

2 beefy bolts at the top to set up a TR as well as a separate 2 bolt anchor with a chain/rap ring to lower/rap off. Walking off to the left past the upper ledge climbs is possible as well. I think I counted 6 bolts, not 5, but can't remember for sure. Aug 9, 2021
