[Hide Comment] Good route. Perhaps it's just the way I'm doing it, but I think the bottom section is 5.9. Easier above. Jun 14, 2007

[Hide Comment] This climb is incorrectly marked as 'Moon Over Belen' in both current guides.

My guess is that the original 'Moon Over Belen' climb is a chossy trad climb somewhere on the right side of Cattle Call Wall, probably up the left-slanting bushy crack just left of this route. The confusion probably resulted from the original Las Conchas guide lamountaineers.org/Las_Conc… having no photos or sketches of Cattle Call wall.

The proper name for the climb was provided by the FA (SB). Apr 14, 2008

[Hide Comment] It looks awkward and climbs awkward. 5.8 at best. The shorter climb (4 bolts to anchor)just to the left of it, before Cow Pies for Breakfast, is a much better route. Sep 27, 2010

[Hide Comment] Getting to the first bolt is a little awkward. For me, I like to go left and then work my way back to the bolt. After clipping the first two bolts, the route seems to get easier. May 12, 2016

[Hide Comment] Much more challenging than the 5.9- to the right. Bolting is adequate, but lots of swing potential. Not the best 5.9 for someone breaking into the grade, and a stick clip of the first bolt would protect a nasty fall as there are 1 or two moves getting to it. Nice movement though between 2nd and 3rd bolts. Aug 1, 2019
[Hide Comment] The quick clips at the anchor have become heavily worn. Consider cleaning this one on rappel or top out Aug 14, 2025

The worn super shuts were replaced with anchor hook/steel carabiner on 9/14/2025. Those super shuts had a great 25 year lifespan. Nice.

[Hide Comment] Thank you for making time to change the lowering hardware Jason! A 25-year life span for Cattle Call traffic is fantastic! Sep 15, 2025
