Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This is an exciting and varied route, with interesting problem solving. The crux is a shallow flared hand crack. It is not in the 1992 Vogel guide.

Location

This is on the back side (west-facing) of the rib that contains "Grand Canyon Donkey Trail." It is the right of two cracks.

A neglected gem! Love the movement on this route. It protects surprisingly well. 3.5 out of 4 stars. The crux required some thinking, perhaps because there wasn't much chalk calling out the key holds. Apr 25, 2018
