Description Suggest change

Southern View and Messina ( a lovely climbing city in Sicily, are both South Facing and on a sandstone crag high up above the Douglas Fir Trees in Freeze Creek. You can climb here year round even approaching it with your skis as long as the sun is out. Excellent get away!

This is a fun, but tricky little climb. Find a Belay bolt on a nice flat rocky ledge. Face climb up the sandstone aretish feature past about 8 (numerous glue ins) bolts to the top and a two-bolt belay.

Beautiful and quiet area with guaranteed solitude.

Rappel the route or walk off.

This is NOT on the initial crag in Freeze Creek that one encounters hiking up Freeze Creek. This is NOT on the Freezer Buttress. This is visible from the trailhead on Pioneer Fork Road as a sandstone crag up near the ridge line. Hike past Freezer Buttress about 10 minutes (20-30 minutes from trailhead. Stay on the trail until it starts to veer west. bushwhack up the steepish hillside to the obvious sandstone crag. you will see the bolts.
