Wyoming > Grand Teton NP > Blacktail Butte > Lower Blacktail Butte

Description

The leftmost line at Lower Blacktail. This climb leans to the left the entire way, which guarantees a good pump!

Crux comes at midheight with an awkward move off a sloping ledge to a good hold out right.

Location

The leftmost line in broken looking (but OK climbing) rock.

Protection

5 bolts to chains

[Hide Comment] Climbed this 8/25 and broke a very large hold just past the third bolt and took a fall almost to the ground. Anyhow, the chunk I pulled off makes it slightly more reach-ier and maybe a little harder. Sorry about that Aug 25, 2014

[Hide Comment] Rarely see any one top this route now days. A challenging crux section with polished feet and very poor bolt placement makes for tough clipping. I’m sure the bolt placement made sense before chipping/ polishing. Currently it is an extremely reachy shorter climb and not a very enjoyable route in comparison to its neighbors.

Go do “Time Flys” over this. Jul 15, 2023
