Description

The route starts at an easy face to the right of the Watch Crystal. Climb the face/cracks up towards a large wedged flake (Jabba). Mantle the flake and follow the crack in the left-facing corner. At the top of the crack, move left to the anchor.

Location

On the left side of the Jabba Buttress area, look for the large, sketchy-looking flake and corner crack.

Protection

Standard East A rack.

So my partner Richie Hum won't give me a catch on this thing because of his irrational fear that the giant death flake will actually live up to its title... anyone been up there? Anyone placed pro in the flake? Anyone -fallen- on pro in the flake? Please let me know if Richie should be scared or not! :) May 3, 2011
Ha hah, of course you should be terrified, but when you finally get back to Durango, I'll give ya a catch. Jul 24, 2011

***WARNING***

Tried to lead this today. Got up to the flakes and pulled gently on the lowest one. It moved about 4". A bunch of small rocks and dirt came down. I ended up backing off the route. I'm afraid of what will come down if I pull the lower block out. They all look stacked on top of each other. I'll try to head up there again soon and see if I can rap in and have a better look. This may be the end of Jabba levitating.

Edit on 7/2/2013: Rapped in on this thing today. Sent a few big flakes down, but Jabba is still there. There's also two smaller ones wedged in there for now. It's only a matter of time.

Edit on 8/13/2013: One of the smaller wedged blocks has fallen to the base. The rest are still up there...for now. Looks like all the recent rain brought it down, unless someone pried it out. Jun 20, 2013
