FA: unknown
Arizona > Central Arizona > *Prescott Areas > Granite Dells > Granite Gardens > High Rappel Area > Co-op Crack Area

Description

Probably the best route in the Dells. Approach pitch, to amazing splitter crack up high. On the wall directly behind the High Rappel wall. as you walk right along the wall, the wall will end, and look up and see the obvious splitter behind the High Rappel wall.

Protection

small to medium. the crack up top looks like #2s, but i cant imagine getting anything bigger than a #1 camalot.

[Hide Comment] Yeah, #1 up top for sure. But really the best climb at the dells? Feb 27, 2009

[Hide Comment] One BD #2 fits nicely in the bottom of the upper crack. More splitter than it looks from the ground and not rough- probably the best CRACK at the Dells- just don't layback it. Oct 23, 2009

[Hide Comment] Awesome climb. Great exposure on the second half. For a lead, the start can be a bit sketchy, first good placement is a bit OTD. Gear advice posted on route beta is solid. Thin to medium. Apr 23, 2012

[Hide Comment] Stellar line on a relatively high formation. First belay (tree) can be accessed by easy blocks/ledges on right. Splitter hand crack takes camalot #1 down low and #0.5 up high, sustained to the top with exciting finale. Mar 2, 2016

[Hide Comment] Maybe best climb of its grade in the dells. Great crack climbing. It seems to me that the 10b grade is warranted for the start of the climb. Strenuous, hard to read on the onsite, and a little tricky to protect the hardest move right off the ground. Easy to set up a top rope. Can tr the whole thing with a 60 meter rope. I think this was graded 9 or 9+ originally. Classic, tough old school ratings. especially without cams. Apr 18, 2019
